ECU
Hi...Posted on here a while back with regards to a new ECU for my 2001 S2k. The CEL flashing sequence according to Honda indicates a new primary oxygen sensor but that has now been replaced, and Honda think it requires a new ECU to solve the problem and have quoted a bill of over 1000 pounds!! If anyone has any ideas or even an ECu that will work with this model..please let me know!
Thats interesting....and could be the problem as I had just had a new clutch fitted, and the light came on immediately.. although when Honda had another 2001 Honda S2000 on their premises and took the ECU out of it and put it in my car and the CEL was permanently extinguished. Would Honda not have noticed if the sensors were screwed in incorrectly?
Permanently? Are you positive?
Did you actually take that ECU home with you and use it for a while? or did you just pop it in, run the engine, take a drive around the block, check for CEL, and then take the new ECU out?
Edit: I read the other thread. Damn, it seems like you may have a proper case against your dealership. Find a hardcopy of that TSB and ask your dealership, or call Honda directly and let them know.

To be honest I'm not sure it was permanent...that was just what Honda told me, and i'm guessing how they came to the conclusion that a new ECU was required. The car was just driven round the block and back to the dealership. Just reading the other thread...is an ECM the same as an ECU.. sorry bit novice at this!! Do we think that checking the wiring of the oxygen sensors may solve the problem or has the incorrect wiring caused permenant damage to the ECU? Many Thanks. W
Is the O2 code still being thrown or is it something else? Sounds as if a sensor was damaged or not properly connected after the clutch install. I have heard of ECM's getting fried out but it's not common.
Check all sensor connections, make sure they are clean and seated in properly. I would then pull the ECM back-up fuse and place it back in(clearing out the codes) and drive your car around. If the same code comes back as the O2 I would try a new O2 sensor with harness.
