Default ecu question

is there an affordable solution to get a more performance oriented chip/computer in the s2000? all i've seen so far is the greddy and the aem, and those cost between 1000-2000. just curious if those are the only alternatives to stock?? Thanks in advance.

You can't buy a "chip" as the stock ECU cannot swap it's chip out or have it re-programmed. It's not cheap to buy a complete stand alone ECU.

does the way that the s2000's ecu is set up negate the possibility of a reflash from hondata from being feasible too?

Yes. Rumours has it that the '06 S2000 "might" be different, but this is ONLY a rumour.

I talked to doug over at hondata, he said he'd be willing to adapt a standalone ecu for the s2000 somewhat like KPRO. The only issue is you wont see gains like they do on the K series engine.

The stock PCM is allready aggressively tuned. Unless you have some pretty serious mods NA (ITB's, big camshafts) or have gone to a FI application there isn't much to be gained.

The 06 PCM is going to be a totally different animal due to several systems not being compatible between the 00-05 cars. (DBW, VSA, etc)

I meant there would be no gains from just the ecu, you'll need supporting mods to make it worth wild. But you still wont see gains like you would on a B/K series.
