I had the TEIN FLEX installed a while ago and this weekend I decided to finally install the EDFC, After a 30min drive, i found the EDFC motor turned round almost 90deg with the cable tangled up, I then turned it back to its original position, what i found strange, should it turn ?

 

no the wire should not turn.

 

Actually the shaft of the coilover turns together with the big nut on top of the pillow mount, since the EDFC motor is attached to this shaft it turns with it tangling the cables.

 

Surely the motor and wiring should be secured to something and the spindle and shaft rotate when you adjust it? I've not seen one in person but I'd assume that is the way it would work.

 

The EDFC Motor is secured to the main piston shaft and the motor shaft rotates inside the piston shaft to adjust the damping. What is also turning is the piston shaft together with the bolt (centre of mount).

Should the shaft turn and if not what is supposed to stop it? A locking nut?

 

 

This is my question, should the main piston shaft turn ? Cause if it does normally turn, there is a flaw in the making of EDFC. IF the EDFC motor is directly connected to it and it turns, the EDFC turns with it snapping the cables.

 

Looks like the nut and thread locker are meant to arrest the outer shaft. Can anyone confirm this?

 

My question on this is, i am about to install my edfc, should I take my shocks of my car, lift the car up and install it? So I wont have any pressure on the shock?
