Electrical Diagnostics.... How good are you guys?
Greetings!
I have a dilemma with my car. Lets see if anyone can put in their 2 cents.... this is a good one!
I have a "glitch" that I am hell bent on tracking and repairing.
Scenerio:
Radio on, push mute button on remote controls, radio goes off..... as if you pulled the key, and the little green light indicating mute is active, slightly flickers. Next..... radio back on, key in on position, adjust mirrors, radio goes off, as if you turned it off, but only while adjusting mirrors. When you stop moving mirrors, problem goes away. Security light begins to blink on the radio in both cases. The radio, remote controls and power mirrors share a common ground, which shows to be good at point of ground.
Now my diagnostic skills are being hampered by not being able to get the dash apart. Cover on top of steering column, blocking removal. I want to unplug the remote controls, and see if I can replicate the power mirror issue. If it stops, then problem is obviously the remote control assembly.
Car is a 2005 - US car in Canada, so no warranty for those of you thinking of Honda service.
** Note: Honda dealer checked the common ground, and appears ok.
Good luck, and thanks in advance!!!!!

first thing first are you still using the factory HU?
um..you might want to pull that thing off first, unplug/slice off the "audio control" plug/connector to see if the problem is still there.
i have the ap1 wire diagram but i am pretty sure they swap the hu like 3 times already

I have the service manual for the entire car, including electrical. I have looked at the wiring diagrams, and the only connection between the two is G501 ground. If you go back really far, the ignition switch. That is eliminated becuase, there are no other problems that could be linked to ignition.
Head Unit is stock, and was replaced already under warranty when the car was in the U.S.
What a PITA!
I dont care if I have to buy the audio controls to make the problem go away, it is the uncertainty of what it is!
Is the deck easy to get out?
Thanks guys!

I think I may have found the issue.....
Traced back to the Accessory relay. I swapped the IG2 relay with the Acc relay, and voila, NO POWER MIRRORS! Switched them back again, and as soon as I move the mirrors, voltage to the acc power outlet, AND the radio switched supply drops to 9 volts and keeps plummeting. I attribute the mirrors being dead when the relays are switched due to the higher current requirement for the mirrors vs the radio. I am buying 2 new relays tommorow, and will report back on the issue. Today, the mute works.... go figure! Definately makes me think it is a bad acc relay. We will see. If this works, Ill shit with excitement!

Thank you! Diagnostics work great when broken down into simple small tiny little pieces, one at a time. Im actually suprised I nailed it! Was seeming to look like a really tough one! 2 separate dealers couldnt figure it out. One in Georgia, and one in Canada.
