Default Engine Bay Smell?

I checked the vacuum line diagram stated in the Service Manual but haven't found anything out of place. Smells like strong gas fumes when I turn on the car. Also kind of has a rough start when I crank up the car. Like it's bogging down or something but it could be non-related. Anyone have any ideas?

TIA

Update Below.

There have been some issues with 00-05 models with that dtc due to a secondary air injection pump overheating. Inspect that and look to see if it appears to have over heated. If that is the case then the pump and relay for it needs to be replaced. GL

A dead air pump will result in a sort of test-pipe like smell on cold starts. It should go away once the cat has warmed up.

Is that what's happening with your car, or does it always smell weird?

It smells weird on start ups pretty much. Since I swapped engines, haven't had it running for longer than about 20 mins. I'm paranoid as crap. I want to drive it so bad. Thanks though, I'll check it later.

Update: Pulled the bumper and examined the air pump. No visible tears in the housing so I cleared the CEL's with a scan tool and Temp P1410 came up. I'm assuming that's the Air Pump Failure, correct?

Yep, sounds like you burned up the air pump.

You should be able to hear the air pump turn on when you start the car. It sounds sort of like a high pitch whistle. If you dont hear it the pump it self could be bad or maybe just the relay or possibly even the wiring.
