Default Engine Block VIN?- Help

Hey guys, i just bought an AP2 and wanted to see if the engine block VIN matches the rest of the car. I've read before that the engine VIN doesn't match the rest of the car and that is normal? doesn't seem right to me. Problem is, cant seem to find the VIN stamped anywhere on the block. Anyone know where it is? Please help! Thanks!

Back against the firewall? do you have to be under the car to see it? and is it driver or pass side? Thanks SuzuakaJoe.

The block does not have a VIN on it. It has a serial number. It is located on the drivers side of the block where the head attaches. So it is between the head and the intake manifold.

Now the Head and transmission have a VIN on them. It is a green plaque riveted in place. The head's is located on the side facing the firewall. Really had to see with the motor in the car. The transmissions is on the bell housing on the mating surface to the engine. I think it is on the passenger side but higher then you can see when under the car.

I am just too lazy to crawl under my car and look for you.

It's actually normal for the VIN to be off a few digits. Maybe not for the MY04+, but for the MY00-03, the production line was less automated, so VINs were often up to 7 off from the car.

Not true. Production lines have been automated for decades.

It is not normal for the VIN to be off from the engine or trans unless the engine was replaced.

Damn mirror didnt work.

Anyone know if there's a way to see if the engine is the original factory engine? my 2005 looks real clean EVERYWHERE in the engine bay, no rust, all hardware looks new, except the head retainer bolts and alternator cover and some other engine components have a white corrosion/oxidation on them. i'm afraid the original owner blew the engine and did an engine swap without telling me? the engine looks way more "worn in" than the rest of the car :/ thoughts guys?
