If he drove it slow and it shut off right away, then most likely the motor is fine. In a situation like this, I would drain the oil and pull the valve cover off. After you pull the valve cover, dry off any water left in the head. Lubricate the cams w/ oil and reinstall the valve cover.
How does water get from the combustion area to inside the rocker cover

First off you need to take the spark plugs out and crank the car with all of them out, if SOME water is in your motor than most of it should shoot out. I work at a mechanic shop and a Accord came in with flood damage and i was able to get her going again by doing this. Try that first before you do any damage by trying to crank it.

Before my S2k i used to Drive a 99Civic Si..

Man on one day there was this SICK Rain Storm and i was driving Very Very Slow and trying to get Home..

All of a Sudden the car shuts down...

I was like WTF OMG my Car...

Then like in 5 min i Started the Car again and Drove to my Home..

At the Entrance of my Driveway the car shuts down again, i pushed my Baby in the Driveway and instanly i took the Bumper Out, AEM CAI, and trottle there was Water all over the CAI and Trottle.. i was like OHH NOOOO

But then at the Other Day i Started the Car hahahah in He run like a CHAMP, installed everything back and LETS GO! I was lucky

Since i Live un Puerto Rico, Here is a Tropical Island and its Raining The entire Year but I have driven my S2k in Rain i'm Talking About HEAVY Rain and Nothing Happens, You know the way the CAI is installed in the car its safe enough that you CANT HYDROLOCK unless you catch a BIG Puddle of water...

But in heavy Rain just Drive Slow and Normal.. nothing is gonna happen, i check that the other day, It was raining i get Home and took my AEM from the Trottle and just DRY DRY!

But Good luck man!

Free advice can be very expensive.

Good luck with your water damaged engine. I hope you didn't hydrolock your engine and ruin it, but that is still a possibility.

I'd never risk a CAI on my S2000, but I've got plenty of cool Wyoming air to fill my cylinders!

Cold air intakes come w/ a rubber house that you install on the intake and you connect to the valve cover. Sometimes water will flow through that hose and inside the valve cover where the cams and rockers are.

I guess that's why I got the Comptech CAI. I've seen some other brands cause the engine to hydrolock here in Houston. The repairs are too expensive to justify CAI's that get their intake charge from 6 inches above the ground. That and the sudden downpours in Houston are a bad mix....

Sorry to hear about your engine problems. Good luck.

your motor might be done!
you shouldnt have started it! chances are you hydrolock'd... try to change the spark plugs and oil... maybe you got lucky... but good luck to that..
it would have been best to turn around and find another route home... or just stay where you were..
hope you didnt kill your motor
