Thumbs up Engine noise at idle

I recently noticed that my engine is making a slight *knocking* noise when I first start the car up. Its not as loud as the overrev knock that I've heard on cars, but if I stand outside I can hear it. The noise goes away and everything sounds normal again in about 2-3 min. This is the first winter I've had my car, is this normal for the car when its cold or should I be concerned with something? The car runs fine and I'm fine on oil level.

There is the link, and read through the thread. Lets see if there is a commonality between our two cars.

I hope this helps!

If you get a chance, please try to view the video. I would be very interested if yours sounds the same! I am running Mobil 1, and am going to switch it out for a different synth. If that doesnt work, I will dump that oil immediately and change to a dino. If that doesnt work..... well.... then im buggered.

Valve adjustment possibly?

Thats usually what the ticking is.. If its a quiet tick don't worry too much about it.

If its getting louder every day or its just loud you prolly need one.

Hope this helpz

Well I cant speak for others, but my car has only 27,000km on the clock, and it never did it until I changed to Mobil 1. Noise goes away once warmed fully.

I had valve adjustment done at 18,000 miles.... When I bought the car, I wanted to make sure the previous owner didn't drive it too hard so I had a guy I trust pull the cover and he adjusted them slightly. So I really don't think its that. Its not too loud, I only hear it if I stand outside and listen for noises. but I will check that video chad as soon as I get home.
