I'm assuming the 00-05 wheel will only fit one way, not that it's symmetrical and can be installed either way. Otherwise the "IN" marking would be unnecessary.

But either way is good.

00-05 trigger wheel fits both ways. It is a symmetrical piece. It has no inside or outside. Impossible to install wrong, guaranteed.

Thanks again Billman. Hoping that this will help others in the future as well.

The same holds true for the CAMSHAFT trigger wheels. 00-05 trigger wheels are symmetrical, cannot be installed backwards, nor can they be mixed up (intake & exhaust trigger wheels are the same)

Only the 06-09 camshaft trigger wheel can be installed backwards.

That "IN" marking was made by me just in case the orientation would matter, but it doesn't.

Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is the cams were in their respective places in the head. The ground on the back of the head was good and tight. I discovered that the crankshaft timing mark was off when the idler gear and cams were aligned, so I went ahead and corrected that. All the timing marks line up perfectly now. The bad news is it still won't start. After cranking for a while, the spark plugs are completely dry.

Tomorrow I'm going to try swapping back to the OEM ECU and injectors just to see if it will fire or start. I'm really suspecting that there is something with the AEM Infinity at this point. I have tried a couple different calibrations that worked just fine before removing the stock motor, but nothing will make this thing fire up.

@treimche
if you haven't tried this already disconnect the battery or the infinity harness (whichever is easier) for a few minutes and then try again

Thanks for the idea. I disconnected both terminals from the battery for about 10 min then tried again, no luck. I did verify that I'm getting spark from all 4 ignition coils though, where as before I wasn't able to see it. I'm not sure how strong the spark is compared to what it should be, but there's spark anyway.

Finally got the car to start. As I had suspected it was a setting in the Infinity ECU. Thanks to AEM_NS on the AEM forums, they linked me to this thread https://www.aemelectronics.com/forum/rx7-fc-cas-setup where that person had to change the VR PWM Duty down to 10, and the car started. I don't know what that setting is really for, but it worked.

*Edited to remove oil pressure sensor question. Fixed a broken wire.

Start a new thread -- the oil pressure gauge is totally unrelated to engine start and no one will see it if buried here.
