Default Engine Rebuild, No VTEC?

I recently re-built my engine with complete fully forged internals, 89mm pistons, and ARP head studs. Put it all back together, am running it without any sort of tune, gave it a role-on past 6k RPM's and no VTEC at all. Other than no VTEC the engine ran fantastic for not having been tuned. This is my first engine rebuild and it is completely possible that i missed a reconnection or something. Does anyone have any idea where I should start?

Thanks

I would start by getting it tuned. All your hard work, and all the money invested could go to waste if you keep running it untuned.

Agreed it needs to be tuned, but i have spent all my money and cant afford it at the moment, I am running a wideband o2 sensor to make sure i dont melt it by running it too lean so it is relatively safe at the moment as long as i dont drive the piss out of it.

if you cant afford to tune it, you can't afford to fix it if it fails. For all you know, there reason you have no vtec could be due to low oil pressure, knock, bad timing, or any other number of things.

TUNE IT before you have to fix it.

Missing VTEC pin?

All it takes is one.

Would it be possible that the engine was not warmed up?

test it with a 12v battery to see it if opens and closes

Just put power cable to power battery terminal

neg to neg

if the solenoid clicks, its good

Car was warmed up for sure, tired it multiple times. I will test the solnoid with the 12v battery, where are the VTEC pins located?
