Default Engine replacement

To make a long story short... I hit two coyotes. They won. Tore up all the front-end plastic and radiator. Hit them straight on, so no other damage to car or to me. Since the radiator lost coolant instantly, the cylinders are scored from running just a short distance without coolant (so I'm told). (When they completed the bodywork and replaced the radiator, the car wouldn't start. That's when they discovered coolant in the cylinders. Took apart the engine, found damage.) Insurance is replacing the entire engine, top and bottom ends. Question: anything I should be concerned about or worry about when my local Honda dealer gets the new engine from Torrance, CA, removes the old one, and installs the new one?

You will have to go through the whole break-in period again. If you have many miles on it, you should consider replacing your clutch and / or flywheel (light weight ).

Gernby makes an excellent point: if the clutch is worn, replace it. They should replace it for the cost of parts only; they're already doing all the labor to replace the engine and swap your clutch onto the new engine.

I assume the coyotes went to their final resting ground, so how do you figure they won?

That is good that you have a new engine now with the new bolts.

What are a couple coyotes worth? $10~12 (in China!)

They won by doing big dollars worth of damage on a superior being!

The coyotes are worth more than the car. I am sorry for them.

Thanks for all the tips, everyone!

The coyotes won because they died a quick death and caused mega-damage to the vehicle!

I'm supposedly getting a "new" 2001 engine, or so they say. It's "the same spec as your old engine" is what I'm told. Not much has happened engine-wise in the two years, so a new engine should be a new engine! However, will I get the better bolts? Guess time will tell! Though I will ask the dealer. (Since they've never handled an engine replacement, the head of parts and service is supervising my claim, not just the service mgr. Talk about service! They call daily! If only the insurance adjustor would do the same

If I were you, I would check the serial number of the new engine to see if it has the new oil bolts. If it doesn't have the new bolts, I would have them install them.
