Default Engine surging while cold

When I start my s2k up in cold weather, the engine surges to about 3500 rpm on its own and oscillates up and down a few times back to normal idle speeds. It just started doing that, but its the first time the car has seen 40 degrees F.

Anyone have similar experience? Remedies?

I've had that happen a few times, but not consistently when it's cold.

I dunno what's causing it, but it seems to go away quick enough that I haven't worried about it.

Anyone have an idea what's happening?
