Default Engine swap

First, if am doing a AP2 swap into AP1, can I keep use my AP1 cluster? I did search and seems like AP2 cluster request different wiring, and people taking about keep AP1 or UK spec AP2. I don't wanna spend few hundred bucks for new wires and cluster at this moment, probably gonna get AIM dash soon, so just want to know if my old cluster still gonna work properly.

2nd, is Cometc head gasket good? I'v asked couple of my friends that built their race motors(not s2k motor though), they told me not to use Cometic if there are other choices. So am thinking either Cometic if they doing find on our motor, or just go stock.

Thanks

the clusters work fine. in fact, the entire engine harness is the same. no need to worry.

and as for the redline, some people have gone up to 9k but supposedly there is no power to be had up there. my car did well enough at 8500.

I'v heard the same thing, many people keep 00-01 ECU and rev 2.2 to 9k, but many of them don't end good.

I don't want to be sarcastic, but many who? The only ONE person I have seen on this board who had an ap2 engine failure that was believed it was caused by an ap1 ecu is sfphinkterMC. See this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...5&#entry5789529 . Please don't give out false info if you don't have any to back them up.

there is a mechanical reason why the 2.2 doesn't rev to 9k reliably like the 2.0 does, sure it will do it. for how long is the question... in track use or in daily use, there are alot of variables to consider there

goodluck with the swap! I know alot about both s2ks PM me with any technical questions, maybe I can be of help

what do you mean false accusations?!!?!?!
Do you even know what the piston speeds for the 2.2l are at 8k???
THE SAME (or close) AS A 2.0 AT 9k...
so lemme ask you this.. would you rev your 2.0 to 10k stock hmmmm?????
didn't think so....
Im not saying it isn't possible but there's reason Honda does what they do....
I do plan on upgrading to standalone sometime soon and rev limit will be set to 8.4 WITH CAUTION because that is IMO right at the threshold of safe operation.
good luck and please don't rev your 2.2l to 9k lol.
