Default Engine Ticking

My engine started ticking a couple weeks ago. It only starts ticking when I drive it for 30 seconds and only starts ticking when it is idling in neutral.

I am pretty sure it is the Timing Chain Tension(TCT) but i would like another opinion before i go threw with replacing it.

It's the tct, what are you waiting for take that sucker out and fix, or replace it. There's a million and one DIY's out there, just make sure you don't drop any part into the motor when you're removing it, for obvious reasons.

Okay. I figured it was the TCT. I just wanted to ask, to make me 100% sure.

Thank you for the imput.

How hard is it to change yourself, would I be able to, or is it to much of a liability for my engine?

Not hard at all. Yes if your at all mechanical. Follow simple instructions and no liability.

You just need basic hand tools. The only points to note is removing the tensioner is easier and safer if you can remove the access port. You'll need an 8 mm hex socket. If you just pry it out of the hole and you're not careful you could drop the piston and the springs into the motor. Just rotate and pull with an even force and it'll come right out. I would also replace the two O-rings on the TCT body, and make sure you lube it up prior to reassembly, or it'll make the same noise until it becomes full of oil again. Also check the oil holes on the tct, they're not big and can get clogged. Aside from a few considerations I'd say it's a 2/10 difficulty.

Okay I have been learning to be more of a machanic. A few of my friends have been machanics their whole life. I was just told to get a high-end professional to do it, since "its a huge part of the motor"
I have been told to just do it myself, but a lot of people told me to go get it done by a professional.

I bought the tensioner a few weeks back, changed my oil yesterday and it quit ticking.
Change it anyways?

Thank you for all of this input from all of you.
