Engine warranty
Well I had my S towed into Honda for a loud tapping noise under acceleration and deceleration. I was about 4 blocks away from my house so I limped it home staying under 1500 rpm. I imediately turned off the car and waited a few minutes then checked the oil. It was perfect sitting right in the middle of the low and high marks. Which I knew it would be since I had changed the oil only about a week before. And I normally check it every 500 miles or so just to be sure the engine hasn't burned any. I was accelerating through second and first and then when I shifted back into third and was letting the engine decelerate I noticed a knocking noise from the engine.
Well I read over the warranty coverage book for my 100,000 mile powertrain. I just past 53,000 by the way. It mentions air intakes may void. The warranrty, but the dealer that sold me the car, sold the car with the AEM intake already on it, and then gave me the 100,000 mile warranty anyway . After that all I have done was install a cat back exhaust. The only mention of anything voiding the warranty in the exhaust part of the car would be the header. The header is stock. I have done no valvetrain or internal modifications to the engine. Nor have I done any re-mapping of the ecu. Any of you guys ever had any problems getting warranty work done with the light modifications I have done to the car?

My best advice is to pull everything you can and put it back to stock. At the very least pull the exhaust and put it back to stock and you can argue they sold the car with the intake. Normally Honda won't CPO a car with aftermarket engine mods like an AEM on it though.
Well I talked to the dealership I bought it from and they said if they don't warranty it here at my local dealership I'll have to tow it there and try with them. I am an idiot though and didn't save my old exhaust so I guess we'll see
The biggest problem you may have is the dealer claiming abuse for the drivetrain failure. There is no basis for a cat-back exhaust and intake to void the internal engine warrantee, but they may try. Be honest and be firm about your expectations.
I called the dealer I bought the car from and the service manager their said he didn't think they would deny the warranty because neither the exhaust nor the intake would directly cause engine faliure. He told me they would most likely try to get out of it because of the abuse factor. He said as long as I stuck it out most of the time if there is no evidence of neglect ie low engine oil or signs of over heating, then they would eventually warranty it.
Well they denied me for having no cats. So from here I guess I have to call teh customer support line for Honda. If I can get them to just pay for parts and I pay for labor I would take that deal. So I'll see If i can get them to help me out.

^^ ya... ??? what is it, they may b e pulling your leg. expect them to get out of it in anyway they can. you can also go back to the dealership that sold you the extended coverage and get your money back for that as well, as they knowingly sold you a previously voided car just to make $$$ off of you. that is, if your cat is on there.
cat back, but I called the guy who installed it and he installed a test-pipe as well so. Apparently I don't have a cat. Although I don't see why not having a cat would cause internal engine faliure.
