Are you experiencing steering problems or the light is just on? From what I gathered in the past from a few s2k owners, If you are not experiencing any driving issues and the only thing that is out of the ordinary is that EPS light, than you would have to stay at a constant speed of 55mph or a certain amount of miles before it comes off.

First things first, check the fuses in the EPS Module.

Check for any corrosion. Also see if there is a voltage drop across the connector. Something may be stealing the load, i.e bad connection, or corrosion.

Since the speedo is also not working, you need to troubleshoot further up stream. The VSS is located on the back 1/2 of the drivers side of the transmission, just behind the clutch slave cylinder. Check that connection. It is directly connected to the ECU by way of the engine harness and dash cluster. The dash cluster then steps down the VSS signal to a lower rate and then feeds the EPS, soft top controller and one other I can't remember. So you problem is not the EPS, that is just a symptom as is the speedo reading 0.
