Thumbs up Error Code P0607

A friend with an Ultralite has an intermittant problem that won't let him rev past 7,000 rpm. He has the AP2 engine.

He is getting 3 codes:
P0607
P1298
P1415

He has no air pump so that would explain the P1415.

I have found info on the P1298 but no luck on the P0607.

Anyone have a clue what that one is?

There is no 607 code in the S2000 service manual, however, it is a generic code for "Control Module Performance". Sorry, I have no idea what this means.

PS. An ultralight with an S2000 engine you say? Any chance you can post up a picture of it? That would be REALLY interesting to see.

Got lots of pictures, in all stages of builds and on the track, just can't post them. I can send them to you and you can post them. They are absolutely scary to drive if you look at the speedometer. I can do things in them that make my hair stand on end after I am off the track and thinking about it.

They have a new R model where the engine is canted at about a 30 degree angle and sticks out the hood. He has also added a Can Am style rear end.

It is very IN YOUR FACE and you either love it or hate it. I personally don't like the Lotus 7 type of rear end so I think it's an improvement.

It is also 200 lbs lighter than the earlier or street models. So that puts it at about 1000 lbs and 240 hp. And that comes with power adjustable seat and power adjustable pedals!!!

I can only assume it's regarding the ECU, but I really can't say for sure. That is a generic code that is not listed for an S2000. It may be only something that a dealer can handle. Sorry.
Perhaps you can PM Slows2k. He may have access to such information. He's busy so you may or may not get a reply. He's a moderator on this forum.

P0607 ECM Internal Circuit Malfunction
If the No. 25 BACK UP (7.5 A) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON (II), MIL will report on and ECM will store the DTC P0607*
The Honda manual says to reset the ECM and if it does not clear, replace it with a known good one (dont know if thats easy for you).

HOLD ON! I just found another code that is very close to yours. It's P1607 - Engine Control Module (ECM) Internal Circuit Malfunction.
To diagnose this:

1. Reset ECU.
2. Turn ignition switch ON (II)
3. Wait 30 seconds

Does 1607 come up again?

YES - Substitute a good known ECU. If code goes away, you have your answer.
NO - Go to step 4.

4. Turn ignition OFF
5. Turn ignition ON
6. Wati 10 seconds

1607 again?

Yes - Try a known good ECU. If code goes away, as above.
NO - Intermittent failure. System OK.

The Honda website im using says that the p1607 is the same code just for the 2000-2003 models. Thats what the website said, almost word for word. ^

I have an '00 ecu that we can swap in so that should be pretty easy.

Thanx for the info guys. Looks like it is pointing to a bad ecu otherwise they'd have given another option for fixing code
