Default Ever get a new tire mounted without balance weights?

3 of my 4 new volk wheels had weights attached after getting a set of yokohamas mounted. 1 wheel did not have any at all. Is this normal? I thought every rim/tire had to have at least 1 weight.

On rare occasions, a tire and wheel don't require a balance weight. You can either drive the car and see if you feel a vibration through the steering wheel or through the body of the car, or rebalance them to be certain.

As a former tire technician, I used to get a few cars that didn't require wheel weights on all the wheels. It's not all that rare but it is unusual to have a wheel/tire balance out to 0 without any weights. But it does happen often enough. I wouldn't worry about it.

you might even see it happen more often if installers used the balance dot on new tires. a lot of "installers" do not even know what it is.

Hi:
I've noticed my dealer uses metal weights in the back of the rim. Look for them. I was less than amused how they apparently used a screwdriver to remove the old weights.

You have to use clip on weights on the inner lip of stock wheels. It is next to impossible to remove them without leaving some kind of mark.

I also have had weights placed on the back of my wheels. Perhaps the weight was placed improperly and fell off when driving it after the wheel was mounted. If you feel a vibration get the wheel checked.

heard that tracks that require hard braking result in wheel weights falling off b/c of the heat.
