Default Exhaust Install Q

I'm installing my HKS exhaust and I am wondering if I need a gasket between the Cat and exhaust? THe stock exhaust doesn't seem to have anything between the cat and exhaust.

From memory, and it's been a couple years since I did an install, but I've done several, I thought there was a gasket with the OEM. I've done Invidia and HKS a few times and they came with a new gasket. If they didn't come with one I'd use the OEM if nothing else.

Yea, the stock one has a little ring that is probably still stuck to the stock exhaust.

Do you need a gasket? I don't know but I sandwiched the little ring in there when I installed the Invidia in my MY01.

Thanks guys, I ended up going to NAPA and getting something close and modifying the screw holes to work.

One question though, on another part of the piping there was a little bit of water that came out after I tested out the exhaust and checked for leaks. Is this okay?

I would think that if water comes out, so can exhaust gases, thus a leak. Maybe it's just a one time deal and it won't leak anymore.

Where is a good place to get those? Advanced auto or autozone in my area don't carry that type.

You have to get it at places that sell cat back exhausts or test pipes for our cars. Or, you can get a generic gasket and cut it to shape.

typically you can hear an exhaust leak. another way is to feel with your hands with the motor running. you will feel the exhaust spewing out.

Note: do not attempt while driving....
