ahh... never thought about that...

Sounds like a great way to waste 50 to 100 dollars.

the wrap
on the hatchback it was probably useless like you stated ... if he watnted to relieve underhood temps, he could have saved $90 on the wrap, and bought a $0.20 pack of washers, and shimmed his hood bolts so the back of the hood sits higher up, and then took out the piece of rubber seal that is on the back of the engine bay, this would create a draft form the bumper inlet out the top rear of the hood where all the hot air is, kind of like a cowl hood works, and it would reduce temps quite a bit .... (lil JDM drifter trick i heard about a long time ago)

But ... if his car was turboed, it would be beneficial to wrap the downpipe, or header to increase exhaust temps farther away from the turbo outlet, because hotter air moves more quickly, than cold air would. Whitch if you know the dynamics of forced induction, the lower the pressure after the turbo, the faster it will spool, and will be more efficient.

But probably not necessary to have the entire exhaust wrapped. that guy sounds like he wanted to waste some money.

Sounds like he wrapped it because the exhaust is too close the the gas tank...

Has anybody actually wrapped a DC header and it cracked on them?
I might wrap mine for underhood temp decrease and exhaust efficiency

i wrapped my entire exhaust, its 3" pretty much a straight shot from the header back, it's a massive drop in sound compared to unwrapped, removes a lot of the drone, other than that i dint use it for anything heat wise

cost me 25$ for a ebay 50 foot roll on black

also, shouldn't knock other peoples cars, esp when your rocking ricer 101 cross-drilled/slotted rotors

well said ...im thinking about doing it too to reduce the noise too cuz the drone sucks

Keeping the heat inside the header/exhaust helps exhaust scavenging and makes more power, If its wraped all the way to the muffler he is probably trying to reduse in cabin exhaust noise(which will be alot more prevalent in a hatchback since there is open cabin over the entire exhaust and the muffler is all the way in the back of the car). This will work to a certin degree. if your useing a Ti header then I wouldnt suggest wraping it cause it will crack, but if your using a quality stainless header/exhaust then it most likely will not crack from heat. My Hotshot header on my SR20 sentra has been DEI wraped and silicone coated for about 40,000 miles now with no problems.

WTF??? cross-drilled/slotted rotors is rice???? I just put put some on my baby about a month ago. I had some brake squeaks when I had the stock rotors and now that I put the ricer rotors the squeaks went away... oh well.
