When I start the car in the morning the RPM's go up to almost 3k. I can get out of my development without ever giving the car gas. I see that other people are having the opposite symptoms that I am having and just want to make sure my car was alright. My car is bone stock MY2002 with approximately 4000 miles.

 

Is there any slack in your throttle cable? You can check it right at the throttle body. If not, loosen it up a bit, then see if it still does it.

 

It's normal. Remember the choke? Well they're mostly all automatic these days and the choke will initially adjust the fuel intake automatically until the engine has warmed up. Most cars do it.

My cold morning start is around 2200-2400 rpm. 3000 sounds a bit high.

 

Well xviper it might not be exactly 3k maybe a little under, but thanks for the input guys
