Default F20 engine

Is the AP1 engine internally or externally balanced?

Yes.

They are internally balanced (approximate weight matching of pistons and rods and balancing of the crank) and externally balanced (crankshaft dampener).

Anything that can take 9200rpm has got to have balancing.

Internally balanced. No counter-weight on the flywheel or harmonic balancer. Search the forums.

normal honda internals are balanced to 4grams, type r internals are balanced to 2 grams and i think the f20/22c are considered type r so they should be balanced to 2 grams.

S2000 crankshaft pullies are balanced. Mine has ~2mm drill marks on the back side.

I thought they were harmonically balanced also?

the harmonic balancer is normally part of the crank pully and I know the crank pulley is ONLY a pulley.

NO-NO-NO. The F20/22C is NOT internally balanced.
The F20/22C has internal components that are closely matched in mass - however, this does NOT make it internally balanced. 4-cylinder engines are naturally unbalanced.

An inline four requires counter-balance shafts to be internally balanced. F20/22Cs do NOT have balance shafts. The crank pulley on an F20/22C IS a harmonic balancer - do not replace it with a lightened pulley unless you want to see how quickly an unbalanced 4-cylinder will come apart.

All of you who gave bad info - go back and read before you give someone information that can possibly destroy their car. There's a lot of information posted on this - read it.
