Default F20C1 Engine Swap Fuel Cut Issues

Hey guys, I did an F20C1 swap into an order corolla and I've been experiencing some issues with fuel cuts now. I am hitting a hard fuel cut around 6-6500 RPM and I believe this is the ECU trying to tell the engine it's not warmed up. VTEC is also not engaging.

I know the ECU will engage vtec after looking at oil pressure, engine temp, speed and throttle position. Currently working on tracking back all the sensors to the ECU. But wondering if there was a worst case scenario work around this ? Are there any over rides available for this ? Hondata ? Chip / VAFC ?

Thanks,

OBD2 scanner would do wonders tracking down issues like this.

Is this a US motor, or a Japanese motor?

If if its a japanese motor, the VTEC Solenoid that comes with the engine is missing a oil pressure (fairly sure, but I know its a sensor) sensor which will make it not engage vtec.

I have a JDM engine swapped in mine since my old motor blew - but to make it all work, I had to use a US harness, and a US VTEC Solenoid, and a US ECU.

Your vtec solenoid should look like this

Hopefully it's that simple. If not, not sure what else it could be.

This is a USDM motor.

Just wondering if there is a way to "trick" the computer into thinking it's warmed up and has sufficient oil pressure.

You know what. I don't know why I didnt put this in my original post, but I had the same issue. Same hard cut in power when trying to engage VTEC.

I have a low miles JDM engine, but I had to use the USDM VTEC Solenoid, and if your car is already warm and has three bars, etc. Then you need to swap your OIL pressure switch in the VTEC solenoid like I did. In the image I posted, the sensor is the one where the black wire is going to.

I still remember, what happened with mine was the engine would be fully warm, but only sometimes go into VTEC. I thought the solenoid was bad, but before I spent 200 on a new one, I thought there is only one sensor on here, why not replace that. I still remember, going to home depot to get a wrench, and came back and installed it in like 5 mins, and no vtec problems ever since.

Here is the part you need to order, from Hondapartsnow.com it is ~ $56 I think:

It's a simple swap if you have the 20+ mm socket. I forgot which but that's simple to find out. Leave the solenoid on there, and spin it counter clock wise and it will come and then you tighten the new one in.

Let me know how it goes man. Good luck.
