F22c Rebuild
After experiencing success with the recent F20 rebuild as shown here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-un...stons-1191828/, I'm ready to put together the engine for my 2nd s2k.
I came across an F22 block without scoring. As Honda has stated in a prior bulletin, they advise not hone or bore the block UNLESS it is scratched deeply or scored. So, this build will be a chance to investigate if the engine will not burn oil with simply being re-ringed without any special cylinder preparation other than cleaning. Parts list as follows:
-King XP main and rod bearings
-OEM F22 PZX pistons with abradable powder coating to tighten up the PW clearance and somewhat minimize the effects of cylinder out-of-round condition.
-OEM Honda piston rings
-OEM gasket set (yes, OEM head gasket this time also!)
-New timing chain + sprockets
-Re-using oil pump after cleaning and inspection
-F22 OEM crank and rods
-Stage 0 cylinder head package from InlinePro. (The head with the leaky valve on the previous build)
-No honing or brushing or any cylinder prep. Will only clean off the slight carbon ridge and use ATF for cleaning.
-Will use Quickseat on the cylinder walls to aid ring seating on initial run-up.

It's okay to use an abraded powder coated piston in a FRM lined cylinder?

So the crankshaft is installed. The block bores were DDDDD and the crank was 44443. With the King XPs, the resulting clearance was 0.002". Yes I know, that's the service limit, but there seems to be another school of thought that states this is fine for an engine that's gonna get beaten on. I will let it ride like that. Rod bearing oil clearance will come later.
Thanks to Charper732 for his tip on his build thread regarding cleaning the crankshaft passages. I cleaned mine and I couldn't believe the amount of crud that came out of it.. good stuff.

The main bearing clearance at .0002" is what is recommended to maintain oil pressure. The reasoning behind the "looser" clearance is that more oil flow cools better, so you are attempting to maximize oil flow, and cooling while still maintaining oil pressure.
