Thumbs up FACTORY ALARM

ok i have a ap1 and it has the factory (optional) alarm system under the driver seat and the valet button under the dash, left side on steering column. my question is i know the s2k's came with keyless entry. however are the remotes the same for keyless entry and the alarm or are they 2 different remotes?? cause when i bought the car (used) they lost the keyless remote. i wanna go to the dealer and get the alarm remote but i dont wanna end up getting the keyless remote if there a 2 ya know.

Yes, they are 2 different remotes. When you install the OEM alarm, the old keyless entry remotes still work with the car - but they do NOT arm/disarm the alarm, only lock/unlock the doors. The instructions specifically tell you to get rid of the old keyless entry remotes after installing the alarm.

Do the remotes look the same?? I too need a new remote since the one I have isn't working all that well.

I'm pretty sure I have the factory alarm as there's a red LED in my center console and it goes off if I unlock the door with the key w/o disarming.

BTW does the factory alarm arm itself if you leave it unlocked? Mine doesn't do that so I'm worried that it's the alarm unit and not the remote...

mine arms itself if lets say i unlocked it and never open any of the doors, then it will lock and arm..but if i open one of the doors and close it, it doesnt arm it until i press on the button..but i think there's an option to arm it automatically after the last door is closed then it will arm with in so many seconds..i was reading it on my manual

haha what the hell ive had my s2k for 3 years and all I have is the standard lock/unlock/trunk/panic remote. I know I have the alarm cause there is a unit under the drivers seat with a sensitivity setting and a red light installed on the center console that ive never seen come on haha. Anyone have a picture of the "alarm" remote and more info?

I think it might look the same since mine is the standard lock unlock trunk/option and panic and it arms the alarm.

Just called my local Honda dealer and the guy said the standard remote and alarm remote are the same. But looking on the H and A accessories site it says the keyless remote does not work with the alarm system...
