Unhappy filling up!

so guess what happend last time i went to the gas station to fill up. i go to the same gas station every time and nothing changes. except this last time when i was filling up i "lock" the gas pump on the slowest automatic setting while i clean my windshield. so there i am waiting and all of a sudden the pump doesnt stop and i hear no click...so gas start to overflow and its everywhere... its the first time this has happend to me...so the question is why does this happen? also is it my car or the actual pump?? because i know the pump has some whole at the end that when its filled with gas thats what makes it stop.. hopefully it was the gas pump and not my car...any ideas????

I believe it's the pump. Had that happen to me in my Lexus. The auto shutoff did not operate properly. Hope you got some $ back from the station.

Turn the speed up on the auto-pump. The flow was too slow to trigger the shutoff.

Its happened to my S2k twice, the 1st time was when i was driving it home from buying it I think it has something to do with the way our filler hoses are attached to the tank, but i also think its Pump error. Whatever the case its super irritating and annoying. I hate getting gas on my paint.

Edit: i was on Full pump both times it happened to me.

you have to make sure the nozzle is all the way in ("thats what she said")

otherwise the pump won't be able to detect the gas when it gets up high enough to cause it to shut off.
