I think ChrisD got his 4.44 on now. I have the 4.44 but I haven't had a chance to drive the car w/ the turbo yet.

Why does it matter whether the FI is achieved via Super or Turbo charger when it comes to rear end gear choice?

It is common knowledge that the reflux regurgitator on the Turbo wastegate uses the same breather valve that is linked to the pinion shaft crush sleeve.

In theory, it could change the gear you finish the 1/4 in...if you're into drag racing. With the SC and the 4.44 I was just shifting into 5th as I rolled across the 1320. With the turbo I'll be in 5th gear as I cross the line. With a turbo with say 15+ PSI (on a built motor, of course) I think the 4.44 could be a waste...I'll tell you when I get there.

No, because a 6 PSI turbo kit and a 6 PSI SC kit make about the same peak HP...which would be the number 'X' that most people would compare. The problem is that a turbo spools up to it's peak PSI much quicker than a centrifical SC. The turbo has a completely different characteristic than the SC, and that's why people are discussing the possible significance of the type of FI when considering a gear set.

Take away the variable of the TC or SC, and what top end speeds could you expect with the 4.44 or 4.77? I know from my experience that the shorter the gears, the more fun the car is to drive. Given this, I wouldn't want to be wrung out at 100 mph...
