Default Fob Failures

Did a search but didn't see my problem. On several occasions my keyfob will stop working. It seems to randomly fail about once a week (it's a dd). The light on the fob lights up, but nothing happens. Range isn't an issue and I can stand right next to the car and still get nothing (trunk release, lock and unlock fail to work).

Then, if I drive the car and get out, the keyfob will start working again. Am I missing something?

Step 1, Replace the battery.

If you want better range hold the remote against your chin. (trust me it works)

If it still messes up the remote would be under warranty on your 06

Your local dealer stocks them. This is the only thing they stock that fits the S2000

The chin thing works. Why is becasue the remote will use your body as an attenna. This works for car alarms too.

its probably not the battery. My 04 does the same thing. Replaced the battery to no effect. The S2000's oem keyless sux balls.

Chin can help sometimes, usually more to do with range issues when this works.

If it is cold, try warming the fob up (eg hold it under your armpit for a min or two).

If the light doesn't light up, try hitting the fob against your other hand. Sometimes my car remote needs a little percussive maintenance.

My fob's red light will light up. But the car will not unlock. I have to put they key in the ignition turn to the IGN position then off again in order for the keyless to work again....or just wait about 5 mins.

Didn't know the chin trick. I'll put that one in my pocket for later. My fob either unlocks the car or it doesn't. It's not a range thing, as when it works it works from any range and when it's broke it won't work at all. The light is always coming on when I press the button.

This sounds like my problem. Except for the wait 5 min part. Could you describe what event your waiting 5 minutes from?

in otherwords if i dont feel like putting the key into the IGN then I usually give up and leave the car unlocked....when i return about 5 mins later it USUALLY works again.

Same problem here.... it happens randomly and only happened twice in two years so i'm not concerned but it could confused by another signal and resets itself when you start the car..

This is what I thought initially, because I usually didn't notice it until the end of the day after the car had been sitting in a parking lot. But on a couple of occasions I've had it fail immediately after driving the car.
