Default Forced Induction

Hello,

I am new to the concept of forced induction, so please bare with me while I ask these questions.

When using superchargers or turbochargers, do they consume more fuel for the horsepower, eg will my S2000 mpg go down when using forced induction?

Anyone know how reliable these forced inductions are on our I4 engines?

And finally.. which forced induction.. supercharger or turbochargers creates a lag, but zoom after you hit the acceleration? Is it the superchargers? I heard this from a person I met.

Thanks in advance!

1. Technically they should consume more fuel as your also consuming more air (at WOT)...but with the SC it just doesn't seem to change the gas mileage at all.

2. The F20C can take 6 PSI very reliably. 10 PSI seems to be safe still, but 12 PSI seems to be too much without a built motor.

3. Turbo's have lag...superchargers do not. A turbo is exhaust driven, so it takes time for the exhaust air to make the turbo spin fast enough to make boost. A SC is belt-driven, and can create boost immediately upon WOT.

note: WOT = Wide Open Throtle.
