Default Ford or GM?

Ford's fluid Motorcraft full Syn manual tranmission fluid- german made is supposedly slightly thiscker and is used by the Miata gang because it is better on the synchros, but folks here like the GM fluid. I used RL for many years and not a super fan except for below zero applications.

Thoughts?

I'd never thought to use Ford's fluid. Do you have a Part # or pricing information? I might try that on my next MTF fluid change.

I'm currently using MTF II and it works OK, better than GMSMFM and the 1st gen Honda MTF. But, I'm open to trying something else to see if it works better.

Spendy, but I'll try it. Given the responses it is clear that folks don't get that the Gertag 6 speeds have the same shear problems our does and that MANY more people have been trying to solve this.

GM SMFM isn't held in high regard anymore.. amsoil, redline, or new Honda MTF IMO.

I've used both redline formulations, and blended them, and frankly they are worse in my opinion than Honda II (except for very cold conditions). I had an amsoil sponsorship once upon a time and give it up due to their distribution and marketing strategy. Honda II is pretty good intially, but I find the performance falls off fast and is consistently notchy for me at 60F when broken in.
