only reason for replacement is pitting?

hmm if that was the case i would try to live with it. I dunno just from my experience replacing the oem glass is kinda a pain and can lead to problems.

Not sure what part of the country you live in, but down here you can get your windshield replaced so cheap because they get the glass from Mexico, and it sucks. Cracks very easily and from what I gather it is thinner. If it's just pitted then I would just ignore it, or replace it with OEM glass.

oem is probably the best glass, if not, then one of the best glass you can buy.

i would not recommend safelite.

at the very least go with PPG. PPG manufacturer's oem glass as well as aftermarket glass.

PPG OEM is probably the most expensive option.

something to keep in mind is that the windshield seal is strongest from the factory, and many installers do not do a good job with the seal, be it the quality or just the craftsmanship of their work.

i repaired a crack in my oem windshield to maintain the factory seal.

Safelite worked great for me?? I'd say $170 installed is damn great, considering the quality of the glass, the install, plus the seal... No problems yet!

And at $170.. I'd say that's a disposable amount of money... So, it's not like you're dropping $500+ on a windshield, and getting a shit product, then having to have it replaced again in another year at $500+ again..

Just my $.02

Great price... the lowest I can find OEM here is $278 and the lowest quote from Safelte is $310. I was ready to get it replaced after reading your post but the extra hundred is slowing me down.
