Default Fuel cleaner

I want to use some Techron fuel cleaner in my gas tank, but I'm sitting on a full tank. Directions state to put it in before filling an empty tank, and I'm wondering if I can put it in now or do I have to wait for my tank to run dry again. I want to do an oil change asap, so its a matter of 300 mi or 600 mi to me - not a big deal.

Opinions?

I believe the reason for adding the fuel system cleaner before a fill-up is just to aid in mixing the cleaner better. Really, adding it to a full tank will do just about the same thing. Sloshing fuel around in your tank should be enough to get the same mixing done .

Pretty much. I know adding fuel after the cleaner will help break it up - I'm not sure if it stays concentrated if you dump it into a full tank and all gets sucked into the engine at once though.

I figure Chevron tried it both ways and suggested using the way that worked best.

Wait until you burn a few gallons of gas, add the cleaner, then add gas on top to mix it up.

I'd burn about 1/2 a tank, then add the cleaner and top it off.

The reason for adding the Fuel Cleaner to an empty tank because over a very short time, the Fuel Cleaner evaporates... For it to be effective, you want it to enter the fuel system right away...

I just did this 2 days ago but I had a half-full tank so I poured in the cleaner and put gas on top to full.
