Fuel Gauge

Whatever the problem was (probably PCB), fitting a new set of clocks worked.

my fuel gauge is also dimmer than all my other lights on the gauge ..anyone have a solution?

I had to replace the clocks. You can't replace any lamps because the gauge is part of the LCD display.

The backlighting of the LCD display is nothing but normal lamp bulbs. Those can be replaced easily if they're the problem.

From what it sounds like, the fuel gauge was backlit okay, but you couldn't see anything because the gauge wasn't getting a signal telling the LCD display to let light through. Replacing the gauges (which is what I'm assuming you meant by 'new set of clocks.' Is that a British term I'm not familiar with?) either fixed the problem or at least meant that the loose fuel gauge connection got tightened during the replacement process.
