Funny smell
Hi there, I just changed my clutch pressure plate and flywheel, oh man that was fun. But I have a burning smell now, is that normal or did my machanic forget to take something off? Oh, should I have waited a little before shifting hard or doing heel toe? What I mean, is there a break in time???
TIA
TIA
Yes, there is a break in time. Most say 500 miles, some here would argue that it isn't needed, I personally disagree with that. Glazing a clutch does happen, and that's the easiest way to do it.
Also, many clutches come with a protective film/coating on the flywheel that needs to be cleaned off first. That could also be the culprit.
Finally, did you lube the input shaft well? That's another often-forgotten important step.
What does it smell like? A burning clutch? Or simply "newness" being burned off? Does it feel weird?

It smelled like burnt rubber
I didn't install it, sorry to confuse you, I took it to the mechanics and they installed it for me. When I said fun, I meant I took it for a little drive and the difference it made in every way.
But I hope they used the lube that HTG give with the package...
When I took a look at the fly wheel it's from ACT and it didn't look like it had a film on it. So, I guess I should have driven so hard after picking it up... Crap, I hope I didn't mess up the parts...

Well the mechanic shouldn't have taken you for a joyride either.
Hopefully you're fine, and it's just burning off "newness". Give it some time, and see how it goes. If you damaged anything, you'd likely feel it too.
Also, a burning clutch is a pretty bitter, bad smell, worse than rubber IMO, and happens when you slip it too much. What are you doing when you smell it?

I smelled it when I parked my car and got out. Maybe I am burning the newness away. I hope! But the mechanic is my friend and he even left me the old parts. I did change the clutch disc that was included with the package. So, I'm guessing that could be the reason it's smelling like that. I'll take it out for another drive and smell it again. This time I'll drive normally with out any hard shifting and see what comes back to me.

If you took it to a shop and had them do the work, why did you start your post like this?
