Default Gas cap loose

Well driving home from work today and the darn check engine light goes off. I don't think much of it because I wasn't driving hard and the car didn't feel any different. Just the other week my gas cap was loose so I figured I would check it. Sure enough it was loose AGAIN.

The problem is, I make sure the gas cap is always fully closed with at least "3 clicks," usually more. The first gas cap that came with this car kept on coming loose and they replaced it under warranty. Now this semi new one is doing the same thing (I guess its about a year old or so). I'm starting to think maybe the threads on the tank are bad?

Is there anything I can do aside get ANOTHER gas cap?

Thanks

Related to the Fuel Filler Neck Deformation TSB I believe

I have problems with my MY02 as well. When I tighten the cap it will get to a point where it clicks continuously, but isn't actually tight. I find if you tighten your cap by holding it around the outside rim of the cap (like opening a bottle of beer) instead of using the flat bar/handle on the centre of the cap, that it tightens much better and makes it past that point for another couple rotations and a full tight seal

I had the same problem. The Fuel Filler Tube is defective and needs to be replaced. Go to your dealer and tell them to look up TSB 04-002. This isn't a recall, but a technical service bulletin. I had mine replaced under warranty.
