Unhappy Gas issues

Hey guys,

Sooo I live in Texas and have an S2k as my only mode of transportation. My issue is that, because of the hurricane, I cannot find any gas station that has 91/93 gas or that has any clue when any will be brought in. I'm very quickly running out and am honestly at a complete loss as to what to do. I've never run out of gas, but I'm starting to get pretty sure I will be soon.

Anything anyone can think of for this situation? Starting to get real nervous.

Thanks guys

You can run regular just stay out of the high rpms until you are able to fill up with 93 again. Stay safe down there.

I would be tempted to temporarily use a can of octane booster in regular gas. Many brands available at race shops or e-tail.

You might also try AVGAS at an (small/ regional) airport.

Be careful with this. Many of those are leaded still.

worst case, if you need gas you need gas. drive super slow, less throttle = less air. the car has knock sensors to retard timing so i don't see anything catastrophic happening.

if you can buy octane booster, do that.

You can run on regular without any problems. just putt around without punching it everywhere you go.

Your ECU will pull timing and that's about it

From my (and your) owners manual (emphasis added):
Use of a gasoline with a pump octane less
than 87
can lead to engine damage.
Finding less than 87 (AKA Regular) will be difficult.

If 210Prince is in area code 210 (San Antonio) then most gas stations have premium fuel now. I know because I'm in 210.

LL stands for lead, yes it is possible. However, it will not harm the engine at all, that is our engine designed for higher compression. Lower compression engines run extensively on leaded fuel may have fouling of the spark plugs.
However, the O2 sensor can be affected (the engine will run leaner/ avgas is denser) and the catalytic converters can be affected.
