I would just put one in the cup holder if you have a pre04, it's pretty useless anyway

You will know when there is no boost but would you know if you're overboosting (boost creep)?? I say keep the boost gague. Oil pressure and EGT are very important too..

if you're turbo keep the boost gauge. If you're S/C loose it.

keep the oil pressure guage..... the S low oil light is a dummy light. For me the low oil light came on right when I spun a rod bearing.....actually it blinked.

Considering all the different opinions, I now know why I am confused. Here are a few items to help you out.

The car is a MY02
It has a Vortech blower
I use the cupholder.

Now, I have been told a few things over the past few months. Please correct any false statements.

"I need the boost gauge to monitor belt slippage-to prevent the belt from fragging before I need to tighten it."

"EGT gauge allows me to pre determine if the engine is running lean(hot) and is about to frag." (however I am not sure if this will help as the installation instructions say to put it at the BOTTOM of one of the middle two header tubes....)

"Oil pressure gauge is a good way to monitor pressure not only for the engine, but the blower as well. (so the blower doesnt frag..."

Thank you all, for your advice...with the new information, those who have the Comptech/Vortech: please advise me on the LEAST importiant:
Boost-Oil Pressure-EGT (exhaust Gas Temp)
Thank you.

I think it's this simple.

NA - EGT & Oil Pressure

Supercharged - EGT & Oil Pressure

Turbocharged - Find a way to mount all three. (optimally).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but why does no one recommend having a wideband AFR readout to see if you are _actually_ running lean or not? This to me is better than EGT, where you are inferring AFR rather than getting the value directly.

P.S. funny, whoever said that Oil Pressure allows you to measure boost is wayy off base.

No need for boost if you have a SC. Impossible to overboost. Unless your pulley is made out of some whack material that degenerates and gets smaller over time.

Thanks to all who have contributed...I am sticking with the EGT and oil pressure.

-Anyone interested in buying a brand new Defi BF boost gauge?

I agree totally! Boost Creep & Boost Spike are serious issues that can cause serious damage, very quickly in an engine with as high a compression ratio as the S2K. Thats why a peak hold memory boost gauge of good quality is so important in a turbo set up. Nothing Blows up motors faster than detonation.
