Default Gear Change Issue Solved--> Check out the Clutch

So last night all is fine with the S and so I stop by a buddies house. I stay for a couple hours and then leave. A few miles later the car just stops going into most of the gears,..particularly on down shifts. I flushed the trans fluid and adjusted the clutch along with a clutch master cylinder flush. Now the car seems to go in to gear on up shifts fine (keep in mind I have not done any high rpm shifts) but down shifting to 3rd and 2nd are still very difficult and it does grind a bit. I have noticed that after hard driving the clutch was not sticking as well so I dont know if that is the issue or not. I need some guidance as this is my daily driver right now.

As a side note the car is a MY02 (93K on the odometer) and I do track the car and am very aggressive on the street. I do my own up keep/repairs and meticulously perform all routine maintenance on it. I did however let the trans fluid go for 30K which was unfortunate as I usually do it every third oil change.

Thanks in advance for your help. I am about to pull the trigger and buy a trans and clutch and swap it out just to get this car taken care of.

Update 6/18--> So here is the picture of my clutch after I took it out. I have never seen this happen before. Anyone else see this before??

billman might have some comments on this. He mentioned in another thread a sticky shaft - might be the source of your problems. And/or your clutch may just be on the way out.

It's your clutch man
You either have a broken disc, or rusty spline.

Thanks for the feedback Billman!! I did do some high rpm up shifts and it grinds going into the gears and is still hit and miss on the downshifts. Does this still sound like the clutch?! I just want to double check before I click 'confirm' and drop the cash. Thanks again for all the help!

I just did a clutch job and don't recall any discoloration like yours is showing. Looks like it got really hot at some point.

it might have warped when it got hot (the discoloration of metal) when it warped it easily could catch and rip like that on something.
My stock clutch was almost smooth at 104k when I took it out but there was no discoloration of the clutch at all.

mine was almost torn out like this when i pulled my clutch, EVERY sprung disk i have ever had in any of my previous cars did that.

From what i can tell if you downshift at high rpm's it will make that problem worse.

its fun when those come all the way out, the pieces usually find their way into the pressure plate making it so that you cant disengage the clutch

My old integra was starting to do that to the OEM clutch. 100k miles and 13 passes, plus being 16 kinda did it in.
