Gearbox/Diff Oil
Hi all, I am considering using the redline shockproof gear oil for my AP2...is anyone here using it? Any feedback?
What aftermarket gearbox and differential oil would be the best to use on a AP2?

Honda MTF in the tranny (should already be in there for 2008)
LE 1605 in the differential.

I don't know if it has been discussed before here, but here are my thoughts. When the SAE 90 specs were broken into two groups in 2004 with J306, they took the lower half of viscosity range and call it SAE 90 now. Then they took the upper half of the SAE 90 viscosity range and call it SAE 110 now.
So, I guess your question about this is whehter SAE 90 1604 is better than SAE 110 1605. I personally don't know, but would surmise that 110 would offer better EP and heat transfer protection than 90 at higher temps, and the cold temperature characteristics seem identical.
Why will I try LE 1605 first after I'm done with LE 607?
1. It's available in 1 qt bottles instead of 1604, which is only available in 5 gallon pails.
2. It's available from site sponsors in 1 qt bottles. LE will only sell it (1605) to you in 32 qt cases.
3. It's supposed to be the direct replacement for LE 607, according to LE.
4. LE says it's even better than 607.
Is LE 1604 a great choice for a rear diff? Most definately. It certainly is a better choice than the light weight multi viscosity 90 weights off the shelf.
That's pretty much where I am on this issue for now. Has anyone tried LE 1605 or 1604 yet that can relay their experience so far?

FYI: Amsoil has 2 new types of syn single grades.
SAE 190 and SAE 250.
The SAE 250 may be a bit too much, but the SAE 190 is certainly worth thinking about when using Richmond Gears, especially the 4.57's.
Also some extra EP qualities during trackdays, autocross, etc.
Richmond recommends a 75W-140 and for the same reasons allready mentioned (splitting the SAE ranges, they also added SAE 190 in between 140 and 250) I decided to use the SAE 190 for my 4.57's.
It went in about 4 weeks ago, so no UOA for a while.
