Default Gearbox? Leaking

I had my clutch disc replaced about two weeks ago - and had just finished breaking it in on the weekend - then when I pulled out I noticed a oil spill under the car... It looks like a leak from somewhere, I've taken the following pics - anyone know what this could be?

It looks like the leak is in multiple places...

In this last imagine, whats the section in blue that looks damaged?

S2000 is scheduled to go in again on Saturday - think its time to trade-in on a newer model - but was really hoping to keep a 2000 S2000

That's odd, did you have the rear main seal on the tranny replaced during this job ?

I'll have to find out, it wasn't something I requested - the guy who did it had never done an s2000 clutch change - but was the only person available for the last 8 weeks.

What am I looking at worst case?

The vehicle has been almost perfect mechanically until the clutch

Non but 1 of the bolts you encircled in red need to be touched changing a clutch.
Only the one next to the trans serial #.
The other bolts look to be untouched though (= good)

It could be as simple as they added some engine oil and spilled some.
That works its way down the end of the block, onto the trans and to where your pics show it.
Driving makes it move backwards.

Clean it al up to see where the oil comes from.

The dent is most likely from removing the trans.

Thanks - it does look like engine oil - and I spilt about two table spoons when I girlfriend jumped into the car while I was filling it up with oil. But this looked like more than two table spoons (the first spill).

Do you recon its safe to drive, to see if it dries up?

I would clean it all first.
Engine degreaser?
USE ON COLD ENGINE / COLD EXHAUST!
Then drive a short time to see if you can see the origin.
If its really coming from where trans meets engine = bad.

2 table spoons can create a huge oily surface, especially when warm/hot.

I'll give it a shot - see what happens - thanks

Its difficult to get under there though- is there any risk of spraying engine cleaner on the area and spraying it off with a hosepipe? Don't want to do more damage

The rear main seal should always be changed during a clutch job because the trans has to be dropped anyways so it only makes sense to replace this relatively inexpensive seal.

Can't tell where exactly the leak is originating from, hopefully after you clean it up you can get a better idea if any of the oil resurfaces.

As mentioned above, its probably the rear main seal or input shaft transmission seal. I have the same issue.

Is it easy to tell the difference between transmission oil and engine oil?
