Arite, now that we got the gearing out of the way, along with the obvious fuel consumption, what are we looking at as far as performance? Some dude said he pulled a 13.8 with his 4.77 set, and i could've sworn ones have claimed mid to low 13's with a 4.57 set. If the 4.77 gives you that kind of increase -which i think it does not considering a set of decent tires and perfect launch/shifting stock should get you that time- then the 4.44's are the most pointless things created since tiptronic. I need to know how much go i'm gonna get!
No one can really tell you. We're all different drivers with different amounts of experience racing (autox / drag / street). The only real person who can answer that question is YOU. Do they increase performance? Hell yes they do. Can I tell you by how much, no. Its like telling you how to describe the taste of some delecious dinner I had...not happening, at least not perfectly accuratly.

Either get a drive in a geared AP2 or just get it yourself no other accurate way

Gear it. It makes a huge difference in the "fun" factor of the car.

its not so much the loss of top speed that bothers me, its just the effect on cruising RPMs

This weekend I ran up to Greensboro to meet up with some local S2k folk, and I spent the majority of my time between 80-90mph, which puts me somewhere between 4000-5000rpm. I tried dropping down into 5th to see what it would be like and it was completely unacceptable.

I know people like to argue the whole "well it will keep you from getting speeding tickets because you'll be driving slower because you don't want to rev the fudge out of your engine", but I think losing the ability to comfortably cruise between 80 and 90 isn't worth it, even tho the acceleration gains are very noticable with gears.

I think the better mod would be something to extend the rev limit like in my car, which allows 2nd gear in an AP2 to hit 60mph and gives you the ability to cross the traps in the 1/4 mile without shifting to 5th (given you are are NA still)

Your talking about ~500rpms difference here, not like 3000rpms different. Your not hurting the engine by driving it at a higher (if you can even say 500 is really THAT much higher) rpm cruising. Have to come up with a better downside to gears then that argument

I would go with 4.57's or even 4.77's even if you have AP2. 4.77's will be really short and if you plan on FI or you commute with your car a lot i wouldnt do it... if i had AP2 i would still go 4.77's, after all.. you want the best bang for your buck dont ya?

4.44 is a 8.2% increase, 4.57 is a 11.4%, and 4.77's 16.3%. Fuel efficiency wont go down unless you use the gas a lot more, otherwise it should stay the same.

This is your AP2 on 4.10's (245/40/17 tire):

Maximum speed in first gear: 36.9 mph
Maximum speed in second gear: 56.5 mph
Maximum speed in third gear: 78 mph
Maximum speed in fourth gear: 99.5 mph
Maximum speed in fifth gear: 122.5 mph
Maximum speed in sixth gear: 151 mph

This is your AP2 on 4.57's (245/40/17 tire):

Maximum speed in first gear: 33.1 mph
Maximum speed in second gear: 50.7 mph
Maximum speed in third gear: 70 mph
Maximum speed in fourth gear: 89.2 mph
Maximum speed in fifth gear: 109.9 mph
Maximum speed in sixth gear: 135.4 mph

This is your AP2 on 4.77's (245/40/17 tire):

Maximum speed in first gear: 31.7 mph
Maximum speed in second gear: 48.5 mph
Maximum speed in third gear: 67 mph
Maximum speed in fourth gear: 85.5 mph
Maximum speed in fifth gear: 105.3 mph
Maximum speed in sixth gear: 129.8 mph

You can plug in your numbers there and see the charts. The dropdown menu has the transmission ratios for AP1 & AP2.
This is wrong. I know my car well, and these are the top speeds....

1st: 39 (40 if i'm burning out)
2nd: 55
3rd: 80
4th: 105
5th: 125
6th: i dont know, but i've hit 150

I don't care if Mr. Honda tells me otherwise, these are the top speeds. I'll record a video for you nonbelievers. And because all the the figures i was shown just now are false, you've lost credibility on the other figures.

your experiance could be due to variations in tire size. Do you have stock wheels and stock tires?

Maybe worn tires could be the reason your figures are a little off?

i guess no one's ever heard of speedo errors, tire deflection, etc...

the factory speedo is off by a couple mph.

your personal opinions dont argue against the math.

I think you just lost all your credibility for making one of the dumbest statements I've seen in a while

For being a complete jerk to someone who was just trying to help.

btw, your opinion sucks and as [AP2-2NV] said, you can't beat the math. Have fun driving your car that somehow drives at different speeds then everyone elses

yeah, that burnout must give you that extra 1mph...

can you step outside of the box you are in and try to comprehend what you just said?

my figures arent wrong, and i'm glad i wasted the time to map them out for you with that kind of response.

p.s. - if you are burning out - that means you have no traction, thus you aren't accelerating.
