Default Glass soft top on a ap1

Someone just ripped my softtop so was looking to get a new top.. I was looking at the glass window ones but I hear they don't work on the 2000s and 2001s.. Is this true ?? I just assumed it would fit exactly the same ?? Tried searching but came up empty... Any help is appreciated... Thanks in advanced... I have a 2000 s2000..

Yes, there are aftermarket softtops with glass windows you can purchase, and yes, they are year specific, so be careful when making purchase.

Key part is the frame. The frame for 00-01 plastic window is different than the frames for glass windows. So you can't just buy a glass top, you'd need a frame too.

I heard some people can modify the 00-01 frame to make it work with a glass window top though

YES, the frame is different. you have to get an ap2 complete oem top with frame in order to just bolt it and less headache.

Why not purchase aftermarket? There are several reputable tops out there with glass windows that will not require you to do anything to your frame or purchase a new frame, and the cost difference is pretty substantial. Why spend more money if you don't need to?

I have an AP2 on my 01... all they do is add an extra flap that has to be sewn in on the inside. Has something to do with supporting the glass window. The AP2 have one extra cross member on the frame than the AP1... so you need the extra flap inside or the window will sag into the car.
