Going back to stock clutch, quick question
Ok so I just swapped my tranny from a 2001 to a 2005. Love it, feels great, and everything, but I did it in order to fix my clutch rattle.....WTF was a thinking...DUHHH!!!
Clutch rattle...a tranny swap will not change this. I swapped the tranny and left the Comp. Clutch setup on the car. 3 days later the buzz is starting to get louder and louder.
I am going with the ACT pressure plate and disk (so pretty much OEM), my question is I have a light weight flywheel. I have learned to drive with it, but does this contribute to any access noise? I will swap it back to my OEM flywheel if I need to, but if it does not contribute to anything I will just resurface it, if needed, and leave it in.
Told you it was quick...thanks

what? I thought the clutch buzz was caused by the tranney creating harmonics that rattle the springs within the disc! my01 rattles so bad in decel that it also makes this god-awful noise from the trunk area!!
sorry for not helping, but the most difinitive explanitaion i have been able to find was the tranny caused the buzz, regardless of what clutch you have, at least with the early modles.

ok thats what I was thinking....
one other question. I have the Competition Clutch stage 2 setup. If I were to just buy a new disk, say a OEM one, would I still have a buzz? Or would it just be better to get the ACT PP and disk?

I replaced just the clutch disk in my '00 a couple of years ago. Same transmission, but the car doesn't rattle and buzz like an expletive-deleted Yugo now. Of course, if the original disks had made the car sound like a poorly-built piece of crap when new, no one would have bought one. I just hope that as I get more miles on the new clutch disk, it doesn't start to sound like crap. If the noise comes back, I'll just sell the POS and move on. Piss poor build quality is piss poor build quality; I don't want to put up with it again.

No, that's not right.

back to the orig. question, i think you will be fine with just putting an oem disc back in, at least thats what is in the TSB's. i've read that they have changed the springs somehow and the buzz is lessened. IDK, i just push in the clutch at 3k rpm....no more buzz
