Default Graunchy gears

Hi All,

New to this website as recently got my 2000 plate Uk 2..My gearbox is a bit graunchy when switching from 1st gear to second and second to third....I have heard that the gearbox oil and diff oil should be changed regularly so got it booked in at Honda next monday for this to be done.Do you think that will sort the problem? Car has a FHSH but not sure whether the oil has been changed...

Thanks..

The transmission in this car should be warmed up for at least 30 minutes before making any judgements. If after warming up it still exhibits "graunchy" shifting then a fresh change of Honda manual transmission fluid (MTF) or GM Synchro Mesh Friction Modified (GMSMFM) transmission fluid may help your situation.

In the winter before warmed up, I could not get it into first or reverse some times after multiple tries. GMSMFM solves this problem in a lot of cases.

I think this has something to do with what goes on in a whore house.

Car has a FHSH
WTF is a "FHSH"?

You might consider changing the clutch fluid, too.

I had Graunchy gears too, until I changed my clutch fluid. Apparently I had some air in my clutch lines that caused the clutch to drag during shifts.

Just had the oil replaced by Honda in the gearbox and diff and its made a big difference to the shifting,its a lot smoother now,gonna get the clutch fluid replaced soon too as i reckon that may well help a lot more..

P.S.Graunchy=notchy and snatchy...

FHSH=Well i shouldnt have to explain that one!

Thanks for your advice...

Sorry, Checked all my online Acronyms, FHSH isn't on any of them.

Maybe it's a UK thing?
