Default Gummy radiator cap?

I replaced my radiator cap on my MY01 around June 05 or so(somewhere around 65-70k mi).

Lately I've noticed that the gaskets on the inside of the rad. cap are sticking to the top of the radiator and they seem gummy. Could this be an indicator of a problem about to rear it's ugly head? I'm at 89,000mi and the warranty expires May 22 (5yrs). XViper, Billman, anyone else, please chime in.

Wish I could see and touch this "gummy" stuff to know what it really is. How's the cooling system been since you changed the cap? Not running too hot, is it?
It could be that the gasket on the cap was made of inferior material that is reacting to the coolant. Or it could be just the chemicals in the coolant coming out of solution on the cap. I would suggest you thoroughly clean the rad filler pipe and get a new rad cap. Make sure the new cap is clean by rinsing it well under warm water before using it. Monitor it periodically for a month or so.
Although Honda thinks your rad coolant is good for 10 years or 120K miles, you might want to consider flushing and changing it this year.

Thanks XViper. I had the coolent changed in July 04 when it was 3yrs old. I might do it again as a precautionary measure. I will definately get a new cap and clean the filler pipe. Thanks.
