gutted oem intake air box

Default gutted oem intake air box

So im planning on doing that today and was wondering what would be a good tool to use to cut it out without damaging anything on my car if i did make a mistake. and if anyone has pictures of their oem gutted intake then that would be a help. thanks

just use a dremel and cut the divider out

don't gut it just remove and block off the resonator.

I used a dremel to saw down the middle of the huge sections vertically, then used a soft hammer to tap them out. They snapped off clean and there was practically no sanding/smoothing left to do.

So..... you think you know better than those Honda engineers that designed the intake system? Hmmmm....

Those Honda Engineers put a paper filter in that box. Stands to reason there may be some room for improvement, yes. Some things are engineered for practical purposes rather then performance enhancing ones. The stock air box is designed with compromises, one of which is to be quiet.

or why there are 16 inch wiper blades on the driver side that dont do crap. passanager side can handle up to 22 lol....

Expect no gain in performance or sound, plain and simple.

One good thing about a gutted air box is that you can run a larger(longer) air filter. So it will flow more air for a longer time than a stock air filter before it gets dirty enough to change.
