Default Hard crank problem

So the s2k has had a problem that has been puzzling my mechanic and I for weeks. The S has been taking a long time to crank sometimes. The long cranks happen randomly too. But mostly, if I constantly use the car. I let the S sit for a week and it started up just fine. But one time it took extra long to crank and threw my check engine light to turn on. My mechanic fixed it and said it was a misfire/timing issue. But get this, it happened again 3 weeks later, then happened again which made the check engine light turn off, then again and turned it back on. My mechanic said we should try replacing the fuel pump. My car is an 04 and is mostly stock besides UK exhaust mod and k and N fipk intake with 97k miles.
Thanks for the reading!

Ps. We checked and tested everything and everything tested fine. We also changed oil pressures switch and fuel press regulator. I changed the battery and spark plugs. He deemed the problem as intermittent

Psps. I think the long cranks are the reason my engine is throwing out codes

Thanks again

Edit for more missing info

I installed the short ram about 3 years ago, it's probably dirty. I changed the spark plugs last month (ngk) thinking that was the problem

That's the thing! The shop cleared the codes, 2 weeks later, a long crank, and the light came back, then after 2 days (I drive the car a short commute to work) a long crank happened and cleared the light on its own, then came back again (last night after the long crank). I'll try and get the codes tonight, if it doesn't clear itself again

check your knock sensor

if your random misfiring across all 4 cylinders, and your voltage is fine(stable and your alternator isnt crap/battery dead)

it can only be a couple things, valves to tight, knock sensor bad/broken/unplugged, map bad/loose/stuck, tps bad/miscalibrated/out of range. cam tdc sensors plugged in reverse/unplugged/or bad sensor(dont typically fail)

if your fuel pressure is good, and its random on all four, its not likely your injectors, as all of them being clogged/degraded flow at the same time is unlikely, unless someone put so something in your tank or bad batch of gas.

and just to cover them not likely coil packs as its across all cylinders

what year is your S? 06+? or earlier?

It is an 04. The shop said the valve clearance were bad on 1 and 4 so they fixed that. Last I heard about the pressure they said it was good. I'm not too worried about the code right now. I'm more worried as to why the long cranks are happening.

Default Fuel Press Reg Fixed it for Me

After 6 months of long cranks over time I ended up rebuilding the alternator, replacing battery, doing a tune up, had valves checked, and what finally fixed it for me was replacing the fuel pressure regulator. It's got a paint indicator on it and my new OEM one had a C stamped on it. I'd make sure they actually changed the fuel pressure regulator. However, I only got a misfire code on one cylinder.
