Default Hard to put in gear when car is cold

In the mornings, when car is cold I have hard time putting it in 1st or reverse. Once you warm up the engine its still shifts kinda hard, but after really warming up the car (driving out of neighborhood) it shifts just fine. Just wanted to check if its a normal thing. BTW its a 01 with 15K miles.

Also I can hear a change of sound from the differential once I let off the gas. Just a change of pitch to more of a whine...... yeah I suck describing stuff.

Any of this sounds odd? I just got the car, and havent done any work or changed any fluids.

Tnx

Alex

everything sounds normal. this car is full of wierd sounds. the diff can definitley make some wierd moans and whines. about the tranny, maybe put some of the new 07 honda mtf, it does provide some better cold shifting.

completely normal. new diff fluid can help. Also, don't try to force it into gear. Whenever I'm locked out of 1st or reverse, I can generally get it into 3rd much more easily, then directly into the gear I want. Works for reverse and 1st.

that happens to me all the time when the weather drops under 50 in the morning. but after driving for a couple of minutes it should be normal. and i agreed, you might want to change your diff fluid if you haven't done so.

try this. before u put into first gear, put it into third then first. put it in fourth before you put it into reverse, that usually helps, at least it does in my car.
