Headlight turns off by itself
Without wanting to be a pain can I ask why you drive with your headlights on all the time?
I often have cars behind me with their lights on and it 's very distracting shining in the mirror the whole time. I can only imagine the S2000 would be even more annoying with it's stiff suspension and sharp cut off point. Having one on your tail would be an absolute pain.
Just my opinion and I'm interested to hear others.

Well, during the day I don't see it as much of a problem. Here in the US, they didn't install the daytime running lights, like in Canada (and likely some other places). The reason is simply visibility - I want people to know I'm there so that they don't run into me, especially around sunrise and sunset, when it can be difficult to see an oncoming car because of sun glare. I know the DRL's have some sort of statistical significance in improving visibility and have become government-mandated equipment in many places.
I've been lucky so far, I've only been hit when I was parked.

Gotcha. My point is I can see them, so there is no reason to blind me. DRLs are omni-directional or diffuse. Headlights, and our HID's are extremely focused. So the only time you see them is when they are pointing straight at you and you are getting the full blast of our very immpressive HIDs.
I'd suggest having DRLs installed. It'll save you wear and tear on our overpriced HID bulbs and save everyone else wear and tear on their retinas. Doesn't somebody on here (MacGyver?) do a DRL mod?

You can also buy DRL modules online for 40 bucks. It uses the highbeams at reduced power just like the OEM does in Canada.

Well, heck, if I knew it was THAT easy, I'd have done it long ago... Guess it's time to fire up the S2Ki search

High beam bulbs are just standard halogens, too, right? Cheap and easy to replace (not that I've had to).
Hmm, I like the idea of a DRL mod like this. Does it turn on side marker and rear lights as well, Dave? I wouldn't want that... The DRLs that I've seen in the states are tantamount to turning on your low beams.

Well, the s2ki search turned up this link on a daytime running light mod that mimics the Canadian spec drl setup:
http://alavigne.net/newHomePage/Motorsport...0/DRL/index.jsp
which will only turn on the highs, not the rest of the lights.
which has all the wiring diagrams and such specifically for the S, and the recommendation of a particular module, for about $40... I'll have to look into this.
This particular mod turns the high beams on at 60% and you could wire in a switch to keep them from coming on at all (would be handy for me, driving up to dark sky locations).
thanks again for the tips.
