Default Headlight Washers !

Hi

I am new to the S2000 * love it, However, I am fed up of taking a shower in the car thanks to leaning on the centre console and activating the washer switch. This always seems to happen when I have just cleaned the car or when I am in town surrounded by people passing by !!!

Is it possible to isolate the washers, without affecting anything else ? Thanks Dave

I would imagine you can disable the switch by unplugging it but most of the world does not have headlight washers. This is a European thing. You might ask in your local forum.

Thanks, I wish the european s2000 did not have them either, as well as a pain, they are very unsightly / ugly things !!

I agree!!

You could wire it up to the handbrake switch as well?? like a relay so the handbrake has to be on in order for the washers to work??

If anyone is interested I found this while trawling the forum :

MY99 - MY01 & MY04 - MY05

On the MY99 - MY01 the headlamp washer button is in a ridculous place so that you can soak yourself or your nicely washed car by leaning on the button

Honda solved this problem on the 02 model but in their wisdom re-introduced it on the 04 model in a different guise. When you press the windscreen washer on an 04 it also activates your headlamp washers - brilliant

To disable the headlamp washers on all models follow these instructions (stolen from Frenchie!)

Open up the bonnet. Look up by the windscreen on the passenger side; there's a black box about 6" x 3" with its top just below the level of the wing, between the battery and the wing.

Squeeze the ends of the box to free the clips and lift off the top. In the box, towards the front, is a 20 amp and a 30 amp fuse

Pull the 30 amp fuse out and store it in the empty space at the opposite end of the box.

Replace the lid - job's done

i've heard that we (EU) have to have them as a legal requirement, is that true or can we get rid?

i just want to get rid of them because they look horrible and destroy the look of the front, even if it means fibre glassing and respraying

Always funny when a girl tries to lean over to your side and accidently pushes the button with her elbow so you get a nice shower..

usually i detect the sound of the pump and quickly hide under my windscreen so the passenger gets all wet..

Always fun!
